8/23: Rotary Art/Craft/Yard Sale (SIUC Arena Parking Lot) The Rotary Club of Carbondale-Breakfast is hosting its annual community art, craft, and yard sale on Saturday, August 23, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The sale has become a fall tradition in Carbondale, held each year at the SIU Arena Parking Lot #18 on the Carbondale Campus. Buyers arriving at 8:00 a.m. will see one of the largest sales in the region featuring art, crafts, and a wide variety of sale items from an assortment of vendors. "We see students furnish entire apartments while others just find some really great bargains," said Steve Battiste, Rotary president for 2014-15. "People really like the fact that they are also helping Rotary with its mission of service as they shop." Rental spaces are still available for as low as $30 for two parking spaces. Supersized five parking space rentals are available for $70. Same day cash registration is also available. Sellers can set up as early as 6:00 a.m. on the day of the sale. Funds raised by Rotary help support local efforts including the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale, the Carbondale Women's Center, and scholarships for CCHS students.
